WYNSTOK MET HARTEBLOED – BERENE SAULS deur Hannelie Hanekom

Berene grew up and went to school in Tesselaarsdal; matriculated at Swartberg Secondary in Caledon in 2000 and start working for Anthony Hamilton Russell on Hamilton Russell Vineyards as an au pair at the age of 19. She soon got promoted to an administrative position and quickly got involved in the much more complicated administration linked to wine exports, labelling as well as warehousing of the estate’s wines.  Fifteen years after starting her career in the Hemel-en-Aarde Valley, Anthony Hamilton Russell offered to assist Berene with the opportunity to wholly on her own have her own wine business. She joined the rest of the Hemel-en-Aarde area as a producer with the expert assistance of Hamilton Russell Vineyards wine maker, Emul Ross and the Hamilton Russell Vineyards’ team. Grape purchases are secured with Babylon Vineyards, Hemel-en-Aarde Ridge (unirrigated vineyards) until Tesselaarsdal’s vineyards is secured and ready for harvest. She focusses on the production of Pinot Noir as the climate and soil type is best suited for this cultivar. She named her wine Tesselaarsdal, honouring her history and family legacy.

How lovely to know that Berene ensured her wine – Tesselaarsdal – travels around the world!

Sales are 60% exported to 6 countries (US, UK, Japan, Korea, Norway and The Netherlands) and 40% nationally in all the top restaurant and wine boutiques. Viva Berene!
